Easy Dutch Poffertjes Recipe
If you’ve ever walked through a Dutch street market, the sweet aroma of Poffertjes is unmistakable. These tiny, fluffy mini-pancakes are a beloved national treasure.
Made with a touch of buckwheat flour for that signature taste, they are traditionally flipped in a special dimpled pan and served hot. They are light, airy, and the ultimate "fun food" for kids and adults alike.
Ingredients:
- 1 pack Koopmans Poffertjes Mix (400g)
- 800ml milk
- 2 eggs
- Butter or oil (for greasing)
Preparation:
- Batter: Whisk the mix, eggs, and half the milk until smooth. Add the remaining milk and whisk again.
- Heat: Heat a poffertjes pan and grease each dimple with a little butter or oil.
- Fill: Pour batter into each dimple (a squeeze bottle makes this much easier!).
- Flip: When the bottom is golden and the top begins to dry, flip them quickly using a fork or skewer.
- Finish: Fry the other side until golden brown and remove from the pan.

In the Netherlands, Poffertjes are traditionally served with a large knob of real butter and a generous mountain of Van Gilse Poedersuiker (icing sugar). For a decadent treat, add a drizzle of Van Gilse Schenkstroop (syrup) or serve them alongside a cold glass of Chocomel (the one and only Dutch chocolate milk).
