The rookworst (smoked sausage) is a type of Dutch sausage in which ground meat is mixed with spices and salt and stuffed into a casing. It is common in the Netherlands and is a traditional ingredient in the stamppot.
This is how to prepare it:
a) IN A PAN
Place the smoked sausage - in its closed inner bag - in hot but not boiling water for 15 minutes. Leave the sausage for another minute before cutting it.
b) IN THE MICROWAVE
Remove the smoked sausage from its outer packaging, poke a hole in the inner packaging and heat for 2.5 minutes at 500 Watt. Leave the sausage for a minute before cutting it.
